How to make Roblox clothes for free: AI apps, web editors and DIY tools compared

Plenty of tools let you design a Roblox shirt without paying for software. Here is what each free option actually gives you, and the one cost none of them can remove.

Quick verdict

For a free AI-made classic outfit on iPhone or iPad, Skinomics lets you generate by watching one ad per design. On a computer, RoCreator and BloxDraw are free browser editors, Customuse and UGCraft have free AI tiers with limits, and RoMaker is a free iPhone editor with no purchases. Whatever you use, uploading to Roblox costs 80 Robux per item.

Search for a free Roblox shirt maker and you'll get a wall of apps and websites, and most of them really are free to start. The catch is that "free" means something different in each one. Some show ads, some cap how many designs you get, some stamp a watermark on the result, and a couple ask for nothing at all.

This guide is for players who want to make their own Roblox clothes without paying for software. We sort the free options into two groups: tools that use AI to draw the design for you (Skinomics, Customuse, UGCraft) and tools where you build it yourself (RoCreator, BloxDraw, RoMaker, Pixelvoid's Skins & Avatars Clothes Maker, Makerblox, and Photopea or GIMP). Then we explain the one cost that no tool can take away: Roblox's own upload fee.

We checked every price and plan in October 2026. Prices are US prices in USD and can vary by country.

The part nobody can make free

Designing a template costs nothing in many tools. Getting it onto Roblox is another matter. Roblox charges 80 Robux each time you upload a classic shirt or pants, and that fee is generally not refunded if moderation rejects the item. A matching outfit is two uploads, so 160 Robux.

Selling adds more. Publishing a classic shirt or pants for sale needs a 10 Robux publishing advance, which you earn back through sales. On the account side, uploading requires government ID verification (13 or older) or a linked parent account that is ID-verified, and putting items on sale also needs 2-step verification and a Roblox Plus or Premium membership.

One thing really is free: testing clothing in Roblox Studio. If you have a Windows or Mac computer, you can check how a template sits on an avatar before you spend a single Robux.

So in this article, "free" means free to design. Plan on at least 80 Robux per garment if you want to wear it in game.

Free tools that use AI

Skinomics: free generations for watching an ad

Skinomics is a free download for iPhone and iPad that makes classic Roblox shirts and pants from a text prompt. Each AI generation needs either a Skinomics Pro subscription or watching one short rewarded ad, an option added in September 2026. Pick the ad and you can keep generating without paying anything.

You type or speak a description, choose Shirt or Pants, and the result opens on a 3D avatar you can rotate and zoom. A template editor lets you add stickers from 16 packs, draw, drop in shapes or import an image, and you can upload to Roblox from the app after signing in. The limits of the free route: an ad per design, reference images are Pro only, the app is in English, and it only makes classic shirts and pants.

Customuse free tier

Customuse runs on the web, iOS and Android, which makes its free tier the obvious AI option for Android players. On iOS, the free tier is described as unlimited basic designs and essential tools; premium AI tools and advanced exports sit behind Pro. Customuse goes much further than classic clothing, with 3D layered clothing and accessories, though the free tier won't unlock everything.

UGCraft free plan

UGCraft is a website that turns a prompt into classic shirt, pants or T-shirt textures, which you download and upload yourself. Its free plan gives you 20 credits, adds a watermark and is for non-commercial use only. That makes it a handy place to test ideas, but not a free way to sell clothing.

Free tools without AI

RoCreator and BloxDraw in the browser

RoCreator calls itself "100% free". It's a browser editor with layers and a live R6 preview that exports a 585×559 PNG, and it can make game-pass icons too. BloxDraw offers a free library of templates with a 3D preview when you hover over them, plus an editor for remixing. BloxDraw notes that copyright in its base templates stays with the original authors, which matters if you plan to sell a remix.

RoMaker on iPhone

RoMaker is the rare app that costs nothing and sells nothing: no in-app purchases at all. It has 85+ templates, 200+ textures, tap-to-fill coloring and a 3D preview, saves a correctly sized PNG to Photos and includes a seven-step guide to uploading. It's new (released August 2026) with a 4.9 rating from just 21 ratings.

Pixelvoid and Makerblox

Pixelvoid's Skins & Avatars Clothes Maker is free to download on iOS and Android, with hundreds of templates, textures and stickers, a three-layer editor and a 3D preview. On iOS it sells in-app purchases from $9.99 to $59.99; the Android version shows ads. Makerblox (iOS) covers shirts, T-shirts, pants and full sets with stickers, prints and fabrics; it's free with ads, with $4.99 to remove them and packs from $9.99 to $39.99.

Photopea or GIMP: the do-it-yourself route

If you want total control and don't mind the work, download Roblox's template and draw on it yourself. Photopea runs in a browser and GIMP on desktop, and both are free (Photoshop is the paid option). You'll need to respect the panel layout: 128×128 for the front and back, 64×128 for torso and limb sides, 128×64 for the top and bottom, 64×64 for limb tops and bottoms. There's no avatar preview, so test in Studio before uploading.

A free shirt in Skinomics, step by step

  1. Download Skinomics from the App Store; it costs nothing to install.
  2. Type an idea such as "green camo cargo jacket with orange zips", or tap a suggestion chip, and choose Shirt.
  3. Pick the free option and watch one short ad; the design opens on a 3D avatar.
  4. Touch it up in the template editor if you like.
  5. Export the PNG, or sign in with Roblox and upload from the app once you have the 80 Robux.

New to the app? This beginner's guide to Skinomics explains each step.

The cheapest route for each kind of player

  • iPhone or iPad, and you want AI to do the drawing: Skinomics, paying with an ad per design instead of money.
  • iPhone, no AI, and you never want to see a paywall: RoMaker, which has no in-app purchases.
  • Android phone: Customuse's free tier for AI, or Pixelvoid's editor if you're fine with ads.
  • Windows or Mac computer: RoCreator or BloxDraw for free editing, Photopea or GIMP for full control, and UGCraft's 20 free credits to try AI ideas.
  • You want to sell: skip UGCraft's free plan (non-commercial), budget 80 Robux plus the 10 Robux advance per item, and sort out ID verification, 2-step verification and Plus or Premium first.

The bottom line

You can design Roblox clothes for free in almost every tool on this list. The differences are in how they make money from you (ads, limits, watermarks or optional purchases), whether they use AI, and which device you need. Then, whichever you choose, Roblox's 80 Robux upload fee is the real price of wearing your own design.

If you're on an iPhone or iPad and like the idea of describing an outfit instead of drawing it, try Skinomics for free with the ad-supported option. If you'd rather build by hand, RoMaker on iPhone or RoCreator in a browser costs nothing at all.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put my own clothes on Roblox without spending any Robux?

No. You can design for free, but Roblox charges 80 Robux to upload each classic shirt or pants. Testing in Roblox Studio is free, so you can check a design before paying.

Which free Roblox shirt maker should a beginner try first?

On iPhone, try Skinomics if you want AI to draw the first version, or RoMaker if you want a free editor with no purchases. On a computer, RoCreator is a free browser editor with a live preview.

How does free generation in Skinomics work?

Each AI design needs either a Skinomics Pro subscription or watching one short rewarded ad. Choose the ad and you generate without paying; reference photos stay a Pro feature.

Do free template makers export the right size for Roblox?

The template makers here work on Roblox's classic 585×559 px layout: RoCreator states a 585×559 PNG, and RoMaker says it exports a correctly sized PNG. Classic T-shirts are different: a square image such as 512×512 shown on the front of the torso.

Is there a free AI Roblox outfit generator for Android?

Skinomics is on the App Store only. On Android, Customuse has a free tier, and web tools such as UGCraft run in a browser rather than through an app store.

Can I sell clothes I made with a free tool?

Often, but check each tool's terms: UGCraft's free plan is non-commercial only. Roblox also requires ID verification, 2-step verification, Plus or Premium and a 10 Robux publishing advance per item.

Do AI-made clothes get treated differently by Roblox?

Roblox has no specific ban on AI-generated clothing. It must follow the same Community Standards, Marketplace Policy and IP rules as anything else, and you're responsible for what you upload.

Is Skinomics a Roblox product?

No. Skinomics is an independent app from Symaro, LLC and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Roblox Corporation.

Quick questions from creators

I have zero budget. What's actually free?

Designing: Skinomics with ads, RoMaker, RoCreator, BloxDraw, Photopea and GIMP. Uploading: never, it's 80 Robux per item.

Why does my UGCraft shirt have a watermark?

The free plan adds one. Paid plans start at $9 a month, billed yearly.

Can I do the pants for free too?

Yes. In Skinomics just pick Pants instead of Shirt, and most editors here handle pants as well. Each garment is still its own upload.

Do I need a PC to make Roblox clothes?

No. Skinomics, RoMaker, Makerblox and Pixelvoid all run on phones. A computer just opens up the browser editors and Photopea or GIMP.

Which free options show the outfit in 3D?

On phones, Skinomics, RoMaker and Pixelvoid. In the browser, RoCreator (R6) and BloxDraw's hover preview.
